Quince

My birthday is coming up next week, I’m hoping to be given a quince tree in a large pot. We are moving to a new build in July so the idea is take the tree to plant in our new garden. Is this actually feasible?

    Happy Birthday for next week! :)
    It is feasible to move your pot-planted quince, assuming you can lift and move the pot to your new home. then replant it.
    But I'd have thought it would make life easier to delay your present and get the tree once you have moved.

    Go the whole hog and postpone your birthday ... there are all sorts of benefits ... unless you're counting the days until you're old enough to drive or draw your pension ...  ;)

    Wonderful tree. Lovely flowers in the Spring, good foliage and great fruits. So much to be done with the fruits. Enjoy your birthday present so worthwile.

    It would be a good idea to delay the delivery of your birthday present until you have moved. It will give you time to decide where to plant it and to get the planting site prepared and ready for it. 
    I have a quince which I planted about 7 years ago, it is a picture now as the lime/silver leaves break bud. The flowers are beautiful, oversized apple blossom pink/white. I have not been very successful with fruit because my garden is quite high and the flowers are usually stripped by gales but I live in hope. I had 5 fruit from it a couple of years ago, not enough to do much with. My tree is on dwarfing stock to keep the size down as they can grow into really big trees. I have to prune it each year to keep the size under control. The variety is Varanje.
