Growing container potatoes in compost or topsoil

Hi guys when planting seed potatoes in containers can you do a mix of topsoil and bagged multi-purpose compost? I have done it previously with multi-purpose compost only but this can end up being expensive as I have tonnes of good quality top soil. If so what split would you suggest eg 50% topsoil 50% multi-purpose bagged compost? Thanks in advance!

I can't see that it would be a problem, bearing in mind how they're grown in the ground  :)
My post will bump up your query too @jakeshowlerhXH9gcQd, and others will be able to advise. @Dovefromabove especially will be able to help.

Thanks @Fairygirl … I’ve done this in the past and had good results from an approximate 50:50 mix of topsoil and MPC.
Good luck. Sounds fine to me. 👍
