Pest problem on umbrella plant, maybe?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can shed any light on my problem.

I came across this whilst I was  moping a corner of my kitchen floor where my umbrella plant lives.

There seems to be some little bugs eating at my umbrella leaves and either laying eggs or pooing on the leaves and stems.

There were lots of little black bits on the floor too (I’m hoping they fell off the plant).

Any one help? I’ve given the plant a good wipe over 2 days ago but the problem has come back.

I don't know what they might be, but the droppings and munched leaves make me think caterpillars.
The only other thing I can think of is slugs - I repotted a houseplant last year and noticed that new leaves would disappear overnight - it turned out to be slugs. I obviously didn't clean the new pot out properly before replanting.
    Just a guess though
