Reviving a fig tree

HenryPHenryP Posts: 52
Hi All,

Last week, my sister ordered a fig tree (2L pot size) for me for my birthday. Unfortunately, it was delivered to the wrong address and has been inside a box (with small holes) for about 8 days. It does not look good at all, however I peeled back some of the bark and it was green, so there still might be hope perhaps? Is there any hope it can be revived?

Any help would be great!

It probably will recover but I think if I were your sister I'd be contacting the supplier and asking for a replacement. They employed the courier/delivery service so it's their responsibility to get it to you in good condition (unless the wrong address was given on the order).

@JennyJ already done fortunately and replacement was issued a few days ago!

A fig at this time of year will look very forlorn as it won't be in leaf yet.  Your first plant may recover, keep it close to your house and bring it under cover at night if frost is forecast, but not into a centrally heated room.  Keep it moist but not wet and plant out in your intended spot once any threat of frost has gone.  Once established it will overwinter outdoors without need for protection, unless there's an unusually cold spell.

I think they go dormant over winter. I'd say it'll be fine
    In London. Keen but lazy.
