Im hoping these are penstemon? Please help me ID please

    Yup!  rosebay Willow Herb,  i’d get rid of it as soon as you can.

    I don't think that's Rosebay, Lyn. I think it's Epilobium hirsutum

    @Completerookie Sorry yes I think it is willow herb too. Think you have a sedum in the centre which needs full sun. Penstemons do not readily set seed. Did you plant penstemons here?

    Whatever they are, l'm pretty sure they're not Penstemon.

    Willowherbs I think. Penstemon leaves are more pointy (mine are anyway) and I've never had them self-seeding. Is there a penstemon plant already in there? If there is I'd expect the old stems to still be there.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • I cut down the penstemon the other day. And just noticed these. Not a problem I shall weed out today. Thanks everyone for your advice

    @Completerookie Now is a great time to get the weeding done before they set seed. Your penstemon should soon be showing signs of life. It is woody at the base and you should see little shoots appearing.
