Armandii in Spring

Our Armandii has exceeded all expectations this year both in the density of bloom and its height. Will it continue to perform like this: ever greater display? Will it damage the large and well established fir that it has taken to?

It gets huge. OK til we get a hard winter then bits die back and you're left with persistent brown leaves, clinging tightly, way up a tree

It did get a big old haircut last year and we're trying to train it to go round the corner - but it just takes the path of least resistance, straight over the holly 🙄

Mine's romping away all along an old berberis hedge. It sulked for nearly ten years until I had to prune it severely when we renovated the old hedge. Both responded by much vigorous growth and much better flowering.
