It looks like quite an immature plant. Orange Glow gets quite big and bushy. I don't think it looks too bad at all. The berries get eaten quite quickly on them here, but you could remove those blackened ones and see how it goes. It may well have just put on a big spurt with the flowers/fruits, as you've described. It's one of those things that seems quite random. I have two of them, both the same age, in the same border, and only one was affected. It seems to be ok now, so I'll see how it goes this year. As I said earlier, I'd never experienced before it on any that I've had, so it was unexpected. I've just done what seemed to be the sensible approach. Hopefully yours will be fine too.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Yes, they're both only about to start their third season, so very immature! The big, bushy look is certainly what I'm looking forward to with them. Best of luck with yours!
Fingers crossed ! Mine have been in for around 7 years, and have been great until that problem. Orange Glow is one I've always grown, and it's always done well. I hope yours do well though. They're great for wildlife.
I found these photos from 2018 The flowers in June

It didn't look like that 2 years ago unfortunately! Last year the inside section [that you see on the photo] wasn't great, while the part on the outside of the fence was fine after being cut back the previous year. I did that inner part last year, and it seems ok now, so I'm hoping it performs this year. They're lovely when in full flow. That's the one that's most visible, so it was even more of a pain when it happened.
It's a difficult call, but if yours are all struggling, it might be better to cut your losses.
