Hard to tell but my guess is gorse. Could be wrong though, it's not normally a garden plant, much less one for a container.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

If its prickly its gorse. If smooth leaves its cytisus or broom. They are both pea family and have similar flowers, but gorse is flowering now, broom usually later.

There is a lovely saying about Gorse. If Gorse is out then kissing's in. If Gorse is in then kissing's out.
That is because Gorse can flower all year round.
