@Nollie I know south-facing is the ideal but the heat is unbearable! I'm thinking of getting an arbour for the patio so I can actually sit out there before 2pm in the summer. There's just something about foliage and woodland areas that is so calming and I love dappled sunlight. I know I can't have a proper woodland garden, at least not without several more trees, but I'm sure I create a little bit of one 🙂 I've just replaced a couple of shrubs for the second time in a year but if it ain't right, it ain't right! Fingers crossed I'll be happier with them this year 🤞
The raised beds are from this company and are essentially wooden Lego. I'm sure they could do corner seats with a curve if I asked them but they probably wouldn't be cheap. I was actually looking for bistro style curved seats/benches the other day that I could put in the corners which I think would look amazing but there wasn't anything suitable.
The Philadelphus is only about a foot high at the moment as it was one I switched to last year. The leaves are just starting to come through at the moment and that's all I can tell you about it!
Goodness, what a great system! I’m sure you can create a bit of a woodland feel. I certainly couldn’t live without a pergola, I attached venetian blinds on the sides of mine to filter or block the sun as required which works really well, since there is always a times of the day the roof isn’t enough. We shall have to compare notes on our philadelphus 😊
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
It's not the cheapest of ways to get raised beds but I knew building from scratch would involve me having to pay someone to do it which probably wouldn't have been a whole lot cheaper. Plus, I get the bragging rights for having done it myself 😂 I was thinking of going for a pergola but then the prospect of pigeons making a mess and having to constantly clear it up was off-putting!
