Flattered you mentioned me Nollie but @Omori or @edhelka actually know what they're doing, I always look to the old timers who I needed a couple of years ago and they would be great successors to the ones who have already done it.
Haha, please don't be offended by the old timers remark you are both a lot younger than me!
@WhereAreMySecateurs I have had 2 tries with Deep Secret bareroots, both failed. I was drawn to it by the dark red blooms in the advertisements, but there was severe dieback on both occasions. Just relating my experience.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
@Omori very nice arches, I too wish I could buy their things.Ā
Please let me know, if you get Desprez a Fleur Jaunes, how it will go for you, mine is in second or third year, I canāt remember, and it is a very slow, it didnāt get higher than 1 m yet. But itās a good bloomer and its flower are so beautiful and perfumed that I am willing to be patient.
Since Iāve read that itās a fast growing rose, I am curious about others experience with it. I suspect mine was a poor speciment or, maybe, thereās something underground that doesnāt allows it growing well and fast
Thank you very much, all. You lot are terrific! I'll nix Deep Secret since so many of you had disappointments with it, and add Odyssey, the whole point of the order, which I had somehow forgotten to add to my basket.šš
@Tack I donāt, I just wing it 99.99% of the time!! Fly by the seat of my pants type of gardenerā¦while future me is left to deal with any stupid decisions š Ā
My new deep red Love Knot , planted this year, has done better than I thought. Not put on much height,Ā but has grown new side shoots and flowered twice, quite a feet in the weather this year has thrown at new roses. Wish I had got Munstead as well though.š
Here also some roses are full of buds (they seem to think it is spring), while others have already closed shop for this season. Sweet honey in its prime. Susan William-Ellis, a true survivor.
