I’ve bought an Agriframes arch thingy for 50% off, I think they call it a colonnade arch, but it means 4 new climbing roses to ponder. I’m also pondering putting in a bog garden/pond out front this autumn, after reading an article about how good they are for wildlife. I’m trying very hard not to envision the digging required.Â
You don’t needs lots of roses or vast knowledge just to start the new thread Fire, anyone can do it and everyone chips in when they can help. When I first hosted at Marlorena’s invitation (very big boots to fill, it was her thread after all) I felt I had to respond to every query, but it’s really not necessary. If you’re really not comfortable though, @WhereAreMySecateurs would you be game?Â
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Nollie I don’t have it to hand yet but this is it. Hard to resist at half off.
@WhereAreMySecateurs Of those I have Dame Judi and Deep Secret. Dame Judi is very vigorous and floriferous and healthy, does get much bigger than the stated size. It’s a bit of a powerhouse once it gets going. I put mine on an obelisk but I wish I’d chosen a taller one as it’s completely swamped it. Deep Secret I think is hit or miss? Mine is in the ground in full sun, and seems to enjoy it there apart from on very hot days the petals get scorched.Â
I succumbed to the AgriFrame sale too for 2 clematis obelisks and another peony support that works well in rose pots. GREX10 gives another 10%discount and Garden Rewards sign up; free delivery.
I already have several bits and agree Fire, good quality products
Be nice if someone new (no experience required!) started the ROSES: Autumn/Winter 2022-3 thread as per tradition, thats all you need to do and announce on this one that it’s closed and post link to new one. Simples! @Tack, @Rojas, @Eustace, anyone…???!!
Deep Secret was a miss for me @WhereAreMySecateurs, but experiences vary. Weeks roses are generally reliable for me, except puny Ebb Tide but I don’t think anyone has Vintage Classic, yet.. Blue for You seems an all-round winner judging from pics and reviews posted on here.

I missed on Deep Secret too but I think it was planted in a dodgy place. I gave it away in the end. I tried Munstead in the same pot and will be moving it to a pot to see if it picks up.

@Omori can't wait to see that. I esp love those quartered blooms of Desprez's
Am about to buy these unless anyone thinks any of these roses is not that good?
