Plant ID: mullein?

ManderMander Posts: 349
I've got this plant hiding in a bed and I'm not sure if it's something i planted last year or a weed. Looks a bit like foxglove only fuzzy. Google lens says great mullein but the leaves don't seem pointy enough.

The shape of verbascum leaves do vary a bit ... it may not be Great Mullein, but it looks like one of the mullein/verbascums to me.

They don’t look like either to me.  I have a selection, and as OP says,  not pointed enough.
edit..... the leaf in the bottom left corner looks like Verbascum.

Could be Punkdoc,   Do you think they are a bit too rounded for that though?

I had loads of these appearing in my garden last year - I assumed it was some kind of verbascum.  I pulled them all out as it wasn't something I wanted.  But some rosettes like yours have appeared again this year.  I might let one or two grow to see what happens.  Will report back.

I might just let it grow for a while and see what it is. I did have a pot that I started a packet of wildflower seeds in that didn't seem to do anything so I later reused it to start something else. Possibly it came from that.

That is really the best thing to do Mander,    Once it flowers it will be easily identified.

If it's a verbascum in its second year it'll put up a flower spike towards summer ...
