Boxus hedging

Last year I finally completed my last two rows of boxus hedging. However the plants were not very bushy and has they start to grow this year, they just to be growing up. Photos attached.

The question is how do I fix this. Do I cut them down and if so by how much and when do I trim them.

The other two side of the square are doing great and as are forming a hedge. But they have been on a for longer and I think the bushy to start with. Same cheap, 6 or 10 on a tray from home bargains. But these just thin when I got them and they haven't yet bushed out.

Ideas and advice welcome.

Thanks

    Patience is what's needed.  :)
You could certainly get more and plant in between if you really wanted it denser more quickly.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Simply nip the tips off all the shoots, literally just the growing points, and they will respond by bulking up.  For young plants like that, do this two or three times during the growing season and you will achieve the look you're after.  Be sure to use clean secateurs or snips to do this.  Your plants are well spaced at the moment, I wouldn't add any more.  Good luck!

Thanks. The others just bulked out. But I read to by trimming they respond to growing bushy.  Thanks.
