Gooseberry problem

l planted this gooseberry in the autumn, it hasnt shown any sign of life yet. The rest of the garden has. Is it still alive?

  • Ok will do. Im only asking as my friends established one has green shoots allover it.. Patience shall be my virtue for my gooseberry

    Fingers crossed 🤞 your friends bush might be in a slightly sunnier spot …

    If it doesn’t make it, get your friends to give you some cuttings from theirs … using your newly cultivated patience 😉 you can have gooseberry bushes for free 👍

    As d-fab says, don't give up on it just yet. I got one last June and it has only sprung into action over the last few days.

    Even if the stems don't produce leaves there's still a chance you will get new growth from the base.
    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    As it was only planted last autumn its roots have got to get going before it can produce anything above ground ... and gooseberries are nothing if not tough  :D

  • None of mine (new or established) are showing life yet, so I wouldn't worry.
