Need hyacinths in flower quick!

It’s my little boys baptism on Sunday and the flowers are daffodils and blue hyacinths- I bought some hyacinths a few weeks ago which looked like they didn’t have long to go before flowering so kept them outside and there brought them in this week to try and get them going but they aren’t showing signs yet if actually flowering. Is there anything I can do in the next 48 hours to push them into flowering?

All l can suggest is keeping them near the brightest window you can. Can you see the flower spikes but they just haven't started to colour?  A photo would help.
To be honest you might be better off visiting a garden centre and buying some that are in flower now just to be certain of having some.
Good luck with the Baptism :)

As AnniD suggests, can you post a picture please? When I had flower business if I needed flowers in full bloom I would put them in tepid water to bring them along but I've never tried it with bulbs. Sounds as though you don't have much to lose by doing that but if we see them we might be able to advise better @becky.derbyshire

  • Sorry for my late reply- I did follow your suggestions but to no avail unfortunately though this morning I see the first blooms on the flower spike…so maybe your tips did work just a day late. I still put them out on the tables and they looked lovely even not being in full bloom! Thank you.
