Crocus are a retailer and a grower - they have a nursery in Surrey. They also source plants from a wide range of growers and provide a sourcing service for professional gardeners and designers, including for show gardens at Chelsea: Crocus, who we are - YouTube
I use their website a lot for information about plants. I ordered from them at the start of the first lockdown. Plants were OK but smaller than ones you buy in person at a nursery.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I suspect they charge what their customers are willing to pay @Fairygirl! I stopped buying alot when the size of the pots for many plants went down to 9cm but the prices did not! It's worth keeping an eye out for end of season sales though. I got some excellent mature shrubs at 30% off in February. I've always found their packing and delivery times very good.
Just looked at the Crocus website, have never seen plants so expensive. As Plantminded says, If customers are willing to pay then that’s what they’ll charge.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I think Crocus' prices have gone up really a lot there in the last few years. You also get a tonne of plastic packaging. In my experience over the last ten years I don't think I've ever found something only available from Crocus that I couldn't find somewhere else, cheaper.
