Sad looking Dianthus

Hi everyone,

My pale pink flowering dianthus plants are looking a bit mouldy and miserable.
Anyone got any advice? Thank you!

They'll probably perk up in the spring
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Mine look like that. I'm afraid they seldom make it through winter, even a mild, dry one.

Mine always look like that at this time of year. Most of them are very hardy, but suffer in cold, wet soil.
If the soil they're in is well enough drained, they'll come away again. Mine are mainly in pots, or raised beds, or at the edge of the gravel paths to help with the conditions here.

I have cold, wet soil, and they do struggle and look terrible at this time of the year, but will perk-up soon. :)   Like @Fairygirl, I have to grow them in raised beds.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

This is one I had a few years ago, complete with the after effects of builder's feet

This was it later in the summer. I did nothing to it.

It's a fairly indestructible one though. Some are a little less tough

That’s really pretty! And I feel reassured that mine will perk up. Thanks all! 😊
