Physocarpus and soil

alfharris8alfharris8 Posts: 513
I bought a physocarpus Lady in Red on a wim last year then read that they prefer acidic soil.
Does anyone have any success growing them in neutral/alkaline soil or will I have to keep them contained?
Thank you.

They are fine in neutral soil.

I agree with Punkdoc, mine is fine in our clay soil over limestone.

My clay soil is slightly alkaline and they are fine in it.
