Yes I was growing cupani too, but I think that was one of the ones that was not watered. Along with... Dave R (which might also be in the raised bed) Blue Shift, Chatsworth, King Edward VII, Erewhon, Henry Eckford, Queen Alexandra, Solway Serenade, Sicilian Pink, America, Anniversary and a few others Ah well. I will know better next year. I suppose I grew too many anyway. I have grown most of these before, and they've been ok, subject to my usualy problems which I think have nothing to do with the variety. I tried to grow some non-scented ones for the colours too, but had very poor germination rates - Mrs R Penny, Azuereus and something else I think. I think the last of these might have come up, but I shoved it in my broad bean bed and/so it's not done as well as it might have.
Further update: my sweetpeas in the raised bed now have mildew. So in this regard, growing in the raised bed, as opposed to pots, did not help. I picked my first bunch on the 23rd of May so usual time span. I usually get about 6-8 weeks out of my sweet peas before they entirely succumb to mildew. Unfortunately, the mildew is also infecting my peas, which are not so far away. I am very behind with cucumbers and squash so hoping they can avoid it as at the other end of the garden/still inside. (But probably not, in the end.)
