What to do

Have had this in a pot for about 5 yrs.... should I leave it...repot.. plant in the ground.. Cambridge.. England

    Is that the Salix you asked about earlier?

  • Yes it is a salix...pink flamingo I think

    Salixes of any kind need a lot of water, so it would be better in the ground. Much harder to keep them in pots.
    If you do, the soil needs refreshing every so often, and it needs to be a good water retentive soil - not compost. Plenty of watering, and enough room for the roots. If it's never had anything changed for five years, there's a good chance the pot has more root than anything else, so it would benefit from some new soil. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Yes, it’ll do better in the ground, with good light but plenty of water … and well away from pipework, drains and house walls.
