Shall I prune my Pieris?

Hello. Last year I brought a beautiful Pieris Mountain Fire but in the autumn it go a fungal disease and lost all it's leaves 😭
I have noticed a new shoot with fresh leaves has appeared from the base. But what shall I do about the remaining bare stems? Do I prune, and if so how much? Or will in time leaves regrow where previously were? Thank you.

If there are completely dead stems you can certainly take them off as they won't be benefiting the shrub in any way. Are your soil and conditions suitable for them? They're generally very trouble free in the right conditions. Neutral to acidic soil, and a bit of shade is what they need to do well, and plenty of moisture.
It's very odd if you've only just bought it.

    Have you got a photo?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
