Transplanting Blackthorn

I have noticed several little shoots of Blackthorn in the ground. 
Could anyone tell me if they can be lifted and transferred to fill in hedge or if the are likely to be more runner like and won't have sufficient roots. Thank you.

    They don't need much root to get going, part of my hedge was built like that. Bear in mind the runners are part of Blackthorn life and keep on running

    @nutcutlet Thanks for reply. 
    We are quite wild and wooly here so it's not a problem to have bits popping up here and there. 
    I just didn't want to waste time if there was no chance of them taking elsewhere or doing damage to the parent plant.

    You'll struggle to do any damage to the parent plant @alfharris8 ;)
    The suckering can certainly be a problem. I'm removing a stretch of mine, because of it.
    The birds love the berries though.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
