Yes, I had hesitated to suggest myrtle due to hardiness, but the free draining site, full sun, some shelter from the wall and the fact that mine shrugged off -7 when still very young and quite newly planted persuaded me it might be worth a go. @TheGreenMan will hopefully be able to make the call.

I've been growing Griselinia for over 8 years and never seen any leaf spot (or been aware that it might occur!) I also have a variegated plant which suits a shady spot by brightening it up, but it is slower growing.
@TheGreenMan, have a look at Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Aureomarginatus. Evergreen, slow growing, holly like leaves, really pretty light green/cream/pinky-red tinged leaves in the spring. Easily pruned to whatever size you need.
Mine is only about 3 to 4 ft high and wide after 10 years.
