Spider plant

RoseVillaRoseVilla Posts: 44
I have a spider plants grown from a cutting and it seems to be doing quite well although I keep having to move location to get the best out of it. So the picture I have included has had flowers on it and what I thought are baby spiders but there are no roots coming out of them, although the largest one seems to have a tiny little bump on the bottom right now, shall I just rest them on top of the soil In a new pot, you can see I have got a few pots ready.

will that encourage them to grow roots?

Yes … I used to put pot of compost around the main plant and peg the ‘babies’ stems down with hairpins.

Keep the compost damp but not soggy.

I do cuttings differently but it works for me. Snip them off and pop into a small jar, or eggcup, of water and before too long they’ll make roots. I pop them into small pots of compost when the roots are about an inch (2.5 cm) long. Keep just moist in a bright place.

I also remove the babies and stick them in a glass of water. I don't keep them in the sun though,I find it bleaches them, they loose their colour. They prefer shade.
