Hydrangea Runaway Bride - to prune or not to prune

..that is the question

hi guys - I have a 4 year old Runaway Bride in a pot (see pics below) and am wondering whether I should do a prune? and if so, hard? soft? or just tidy up straggly bits and leave it..

I honestly can't remember what I did last year, but had an incredible amount of flowers from April to September

no idea why the images are flipped, but ho hum

thanks guys

Re your hydrangea - I think these just get pruned in the same way as mop head types, ie back to a strong bud, at this time of year. That will depend on your climate though. I can't prune hydrangeas at this time of year, but in milder areas March would be fine.

It's always worth refreshing all the top layer of soil in the pot too, and adding some nutrition. Good compost, rotted manure etc.

Photos need to be small enough to load correctly. It's a glitch that still hasn't been fixed. I'm not holding my breath that it ever will be.  :/
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
