I think it could be a Passionflower. But I maybe wrong.
Only turned one photo because OH's computer isn't easy. Mine is simple but I don't have it here.

Leaves don't look right for a Passiflora.

Think @Silver surfer is needed ;)

Looks a bit like Trachelospermum but I'm not sure.  Does it flower @Tall trees and what colour?

It is a as @Plantminded suggests - trachelospermum jasminoides (Star Jasmine).

It looks like it's had a bad attack of scale insects too which is the cause for the sooty leaves.
Usually it's due to lack of water

@Tall trees, the sooty mould on your plant can be treated.  Here's some guidance from the RHS:Sooty moulds / RHS Gardening.  It's worth treating to enjoy the white flowers and scent!

I didn't recognise it, although I have one, because of the black leaves.

My first thought was Piliostegia Viburnoides.

My vote goes to Trachelospermum jasminoides.
    Quote www...

"The popular evergreen climber Trachelospermum jasminoides is often affected by scale insect and develops severe sooty mould on sheltered walls. Bay trees are often affected, especially those grown in containers in sheltered situations near to the house."
    See 2nd pic.
