Hi, Jenny,no the path isn't in the neighbours garden,it's between his fence and the garages. We decided it's not in our interest to have the path uncovered, because there is a gate, anyone deciding to be nosy, could jump over and see what is in our garage, break the glass even,( you can be sure his cameras won't record a thing) I did try to purchase the original ground plans from the 1960s but all that's available now is the revised version from 2006 and the building of the sub station,I was thinking of trying to contact them, see if they might have a copy. Think I will try that, maybe get a clearer picture.

Wild Edges yes that's it, well done you! there is a fence the other side of the path along his garden, which has rather "shortened" over the years, the bird boxes are nearer the path, but great effort. I know it's really difficult to explain. But no, our garage doesn't form part of his boundary.
I guess it comes down to whether he owns the path or just has access rights along it. If he owns it as access to his rear garden then the garage wall still counts as a party wall.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I didn't realise you had a window in the garage. I suppose rampant brambles are as good as barbed wire for deterring intruders, without the need for warning signs.

I'm not sure how we could find out, the places were built so long ago,any thoughts? Oh just found you can buy title deeds for a property not owned by you. I will certainly try SEEB  as well.

I still can’t fathom this. Looking at Wild Edge’s sketch, is it correct to say that the neighbour has hacked his way through brambles growing around the sub station to put up bird boxes that, by the looks of it, neither of you can see?

I’m not convinced that that constitutes a fair summary because why would he bother and, for you, it is an impertinence that I would grudgingly tolerate but I would confront him and ask him not to be so forward in the future.

I'm confused as to how the back of Nanny's garage could be considered a party wall, just because there's access behind it.  :/
    Is that really the case?

Maybe he thought bird boxes on Nanny’s wall would be more private for the birds and more likely to be used especially if it’s brambly?
Have you spoken to him and asked him what his thinking is? He may have a perfectly reasonable explanation. If you don’t like him @Nanny Beach it’s easy to think he is doing it to be spiteful when there could be a good reason.

Ben,no he hasn't hacked through the brambles,he's removed some fencing at the side of his garden,to get access to HIS  garage, which is next to mine. When we moved here the only access we both had to our respective garages was the up and over doors about 100 feet away in the next road. He's put a door in the back of his garage off this path, which runs along the back of all 3 garages. You can't see the bird boxes from our garage door, the brambles are as high as the garage roof, and impenetrable. I can't show you pictures of the side of our garage because of all the cameras. To be honest,I wish my old man hadn't told me, because I am not tall enough to see over the fence, would have been none the wiser. The sub station only went up 2006,we have a covenant between the previous owners and SEEB. I presume he has one as well.

Can you say where the boxes are - using @wild edges' drawing?
Again - I'm confused as to their location.

Maybe if they're facing south, you could tell him that any birds that hatch will fry, so it's bad idea.
