Weed ID

PlantNet says this is some form of bitter cress, but I'd welcome any thoughts:

Leaves are small - 5 or 6 mm across or so.

    Yes it's a nightmare.
A seed can germinate, flower and set seed itself all with 5 weeks, so they really multiply fast.
Hoe them off if there's lots or dig/pull them up and try not to let them seed.

    Cardamine hirsuta.
    Tiny but a complete pest.
It can flower and set seed when miniscule.

This is true - they even flower in my lawn, so the seed ends up in the compost and I end up with even more 🙄

I've seen them growing in a bucket of sand and a puddle of water. They're adaptable😒

@jonathan.cole The only time this weed goes into any form of dormancy is when we have a drought.
It is happy to keep growing through the winter.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • Well it looks rather pretty and is apparently edible so I shall see what it tastes like and decide from there!

Beats couch grass anyway which is the major pest currently.
  • It tastes great, so we shall eat it and if we eat it all then that's weeding sorted and if not then more crop for later.

Oh you’ll definitely get more. I go out daily at the minute and pick out loads of it.

I can smell it when it’s been raining!!
