4 roof vents for me and 2 louvres. Two in the roof are auto currently, one open today but when I get the cash or a pressie all the roof ones will be automatic. One of the two louvres in the sunny side was auto but it didn't really work, seemed the spring was too strong and it creaked and bent so putting that back to manual this year. But very happy with the roof openers and gives me confidence that it won't get too hot if I don't pay attention.
I’ve ordered an 8 x 10 from the Greenhouse People, 3 auto roof vents, 2 lower Louvre panels, double doors and built in shelving, just waiting for a delivery date, hopefully not too long 🤞🏻😊
Have to say the lovely lady at their head office site was very helpful and very patient.
Toughened panes are much harder to break than normal glass. If they do break, they break like a car windscreen - it shatters into thousands of bits that are not sharp. If an ordinary pane breaks, it breaks into deadly shards of sharp glass. So toughened is the way to go if possible.
The only problem comes with clean up after a break. Normal glass usually means picking up 5 or 6 large bits, whereas trying to get the thousand bits of toughened glass cleaned up from soil and gravel is a nightmare.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Happy gardening with your greenhouse. You will love it.
I would suggest if you have the funds and space, a minimum of 8'x12ft, on a base row of brieze blocks, toughened glass, min. 2 auto roof vents, min. 2 lower louvre vents, I would go for free standing shelving so you can move it around if needed or move it outside during the summer, which is what I do. I only have a 6x8 freebie greenhouse so space is at a premium. I had an 8x12 previously which was good but when full of veg. in full growth, was barely big enough. I do not have any vents and only one roof window with a broken catch, I have to tie it down in winter and prop it open with a piece of wood during the summer. I leave the door open 24/7 during the summer but it still gets very hot inside. I have laid weed matting over the whole of the base area inside and laid a row of half slabs down the centre to walk on. For the last few years I have repurposed some large white lace curtains as shading, just thrown them over the outside of the greenhouse for the summer. Works a treat. Do not forget to put a chair inside supposedly for you to sit and admire your handiwork but which will probably be taken over by your cat if you have one! A cushion or folded blanket is enjoyed as well! On days when the weather is bad I often sit in my greenhouse with a cup f coffee and commune with nature, even during the winter there are days when it is warm enough, just, for a 1/2 hr break.

True - but preferable to a visit to A&E
