Buddleia 'Butterfly Towers' pruning

hi guys - I've got one of these in a pot. is now a good time to prune? and if so, how hard?

side question - I'm thinking I might want to relocate into the ground. if I decide to do this, when would be a good time? I've got a nice spot next to a wall, which gets 6-8 hours of sun from April to September

thanks guys

Hi @garrinchasuperskillz, if you are in a mild part of the country, you can prune your buddleia anytime this month, before growth restarts.  This is a new columnar variety but should be pruned in the same way as others.  Prune back to a low framework of three or four buds from the base of the plant, ie reducing each stem to this height.

You can plant it in the ground now too, that sounds like an ideal spot.  Give it a water when done and add some extra organic material to the surrounding soil, such as compost, soil improver or manure.  Good luck!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.
