Labelling of plants

What do people use for labelling of plants.  Ive used sharpies, permanent markers and even bought a label making machine.  But they all fade over time.  What do you guys use that has a little more staying power.

Waxy chinagraph pencils last longer than anything else I've tried.
I've also used the light-coloured ones to write directly on pots - no label to fall out and go missing.

I use a labelling machine with white self adhesive labels/black print cartridges. I find these last for years if you also use good quality plastic labels, the cheaper ones usually degrade far sooner than the sticky labels do.

I'll second that. Chinagraph pencils work well and the labels can be scrubbed clean at the end of the season.

Stabilo Write 4 All. I found it permanent over years.
