It doesn't look like a buddleja and confuses everyone. I call it the firework plant.Long arching sprays of purple in June.  It is pruned differently to B. davidii. Just prune out flowered shoots after the flowers fade.
  • Thank you!!

I'd discounted this one initially as I thought the leaves were supposed to be paler/silvery - looking at more pictures out there now though I think they are the same (plus my photos look darker as they are wet).

Would certainly explain "blue" flowers too.

    Thanks again folks!

    Hi there

Is anyone able to ID this please.

About 1.5m/2m high in places,  4m spread.
Apparently has a blueish flower (I've not seen it in flower though).
    Evergreen.
    Woody.

    Cheers
    Confused!
Please can I just check where this is?
Sorry, been busy....wouldn't have got this as Buddleja alternifolia.
I know winters aren't so cold but  Buddleja alternifolia is deciduous...not evergreen.

Oh dear, that's a shame.  Looks like it's back to square one...

  • Ah. Yep back to square one indeed. Oh well.

It's in a friend's garden- the pictures are from early December. It was fairly sheltered but I think I may try to get a few photos of it now to see if it remained in leaf (or wait til flowering) as I'm not sure all the details I have are correct.

It is more than likely B. alternifolia or the hybrid which keeps it leaves over a mild winter.
We have one. It looks like yours, the leaves do look less grey when wet/damp.
We have had a mild winter here in the south. It has leaves on it now.

@pineapplemint If you do get another look and it is in leaf, check the undersides of the leaves to see if they are silver grey .It's good to have a puzzle
