Seedling depth transplanting

Is it advisable to transplant the seedlings the same depth as where they germinated ?
Sometimes when they've gone a bit leggy I'm tempted to put them in a bit deeper for support, I suppose this will cause stem rot!

Apart from tomatoes,I plant at the same depth. To stop the legginess,I turn them several times a day.

Yes - toms can certainly be transplanted deeper, and I do it with sweet peas as well.

What seedlings have you got @Don my Ton and what size are they? If you have some photos that will help too.  :)

It's not something I've grown @Don my Ton, but if the stems are like most sunflowers- ie quite sturdy and hairy, you could probably plant them a bit deeper when you move them on.
If you have lots, you could experiment - some deeper, some at the same level and see what happens. It's useful for future sowing too.

Seedlings often get etiolated when sown early, simply because light levels are too low for them. That may be what's happened with yours, but they should be fine if they carry on growing well  :)
