Old compost

I have just emptied the hanging baskets, can I use the compost to start off dahlia tubers?

    I don't see why not. They don't need fertiliser until later (if you're putting them in pots/tubs).
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    Yes the "food " stored in the tubers is more than sufficient to get them growing.
