New wildlife pond

This winter we had a new wildlife pond dug. It is roughly oval, 9ft long, 5ft wide, approx depth in middle is 2ft, with sloping sides and 'shallow end' for wildlife to exit. Thanks for all the advice folks - I've potted up three or four plants, still got a couple to do. Could I use a couple of regular plastic pots, (of which I have dozens)with holes pierced around the sides, to save another trip to the nursery?
