Pond plant
in Plants
Morning All. Got ourselves a new pond, lovingly filled by various recent storms and now in need of a few plants. Just wondering when's the best time to start adding them? Is it too early, or no time like the present? Thanks

Several pond plants introduced from other countries have escaped from ponds and are now in our ponds, water courses, streams and rivers and are almost impossible to get rid of.
Some have been banned in 2014 but I understand can still be found for sale...eg e bay
Invasive Alien Species Regulation
Many pond plants used to be very common ..do not be tempted to let your friends give you the "wrong "plants. In my old garden I planted the native white skunk cabbage and the yellow flowered American skunk cabbage. The yellow flowered one is now listed as a pest. It now grows wild down our river banks. At the time I did not know this.

Think about the problems caused by Impatiens..Himalayan balsam and remember under water the wrong pond plants can be just as bad when in our streams and rivers.
