Seedling ID

Good morning everyone,

Could anyone help to identify this plant please? Mid January I've started seeds that were marked as anemones,  they all germinated very well but amongst anemones were these guys. They resemble petunias a little with slightly hairy leaves and stems but grow much faster sending lots of side shoots.
Many thanks

  • Petunia's would be my first thought too.

    Mine too.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Could be a surfinia Petunia? They have a trailing habit and grow fast. It is always exciting when you have something and you are not sure what it is, hairy leaves let you know it likes the sun.

  • Thanks very much for the replies. It's the speed they grew and the size that puzzled me, petunias that I've planted almost the same time are no way near the size. I never dealt with surfinias before so don't mind this possibility at all ;)
Thanks for the info re.leaves GardenerSuze, I'll move them to the sunnier spot.
  • @kippsattacks. If they are petunias you will obviously need to keep them inside until frosts have passed.
