What is this bird?

I love reading all the threads on this forum and I’ve learnt so much from it. I had an unexpected visitor in my garden this morning and I thought someone on here might be able to identify it. Thank you in advance

    Yes, I think it's a sparrowhawk too.

    Males are smaller than the females and have a reddish colouring on the stripey breast.  I think your photo shows  a female.

    Thank you everyone. I had to zoom in my phone to get a photo through the window. I didn’t want to risk getting closer and it flying away. It was so exciting to see a bird of prey in my garden.

    A fabulous bird. Although the house sparrows may not think so. 

    I caught one jumping up and down on something on my lawn. 

    It was a house sparrow ☹️🤨

    This was it flying off with its dinner!
