Hi all, having been very ill the last year I have had to relocate (nearer hospital and daughter) I have moved to a much smaller new build which has no fireplace, no chimney breast but it does have a chimney pot.  Go figure ????

  • Is it a jackdaw's nest box, @herbaceous?  Strange...
Hope your relocation makes life easier.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Still getting used to the move @Liriodendron and thank you I hope it will. The architect startedwith his 6 year old son's drawing of a house, I am convinced of that. Friends smiled politely but when they see it they "Oh yes!"

No jackdaws here just red kites by the boatload........ Haven't had the courage to put my bird feeders out yet

Today we got one xmas card, 1 RHS journal, 3 seed/plant catalogues, greenhouse catalogue, 2 travel catalogues, one advert for travel insurance, 1 bird food catalogue, and a credit card bill.
We had loads through the post today. It was like Xmas. Literally like Xmas since it should have all turned up before then. :#  No harm done though.

I am envious @wild edges. This morning 2 postmen in a van went down a nearby Close. One got out and delivered a parcel while his colleague turned the van round, then got back in it.
Off they went, and disappeared down the road.
I am hoping the rest of my Christmas (cards, magazines and bills) arrives soon, preferably before 2023.

Daughter is still waiting for the parcel that was sent in early November.
Maybe in time for next Christmas... :D
Thought I'd tackle the elephant in the room yesterday - ie my car insurance. That was fun. Whatever any of you do - DON'T get insurance with OneCall, no matter how cheap it might seem. They're crooks. There's a whole group dedicated to them on Faceache.
Short version-I waited for ages and ages [quelle surprise] to do a live chat, as that was the only method of cancelling. They're persistent, I'll give them that. I had to resort to using capitals to say 'what bit of -"I'm not renewing it" do you not understand?'. Eventually said I'd be taking it further if they tried to take money out of my account after the last payment. Said I wanted it in writing, which I got.
    Job done...eventually.  Sigh... :|

I cannot shift this chest infection. :(  It's been two weeks of coughing my guts up and crackly noises when I breathe out and it just seems to be getting worse now. It maybe time to see a doctor :#  I had a terrible sleep last night and woke up freezing cold with my clothes soaked in sweat. I had so much to do with this time off and can't do anything between this cough and the weather. The supermarkets seem to be sold out of medicines and tissues so I'm guessing this is happening to a lot of people.

Yes time to see a doctor if it's getting worse @wildedges. If you don't see one today it will be the middle of next week before you get your next chance.

I believe it's rife in many areas @wild edges. Hope you get over it safely. The jobs you had planned aren't important compared to your health.
My sister wanted me to go over there yesterday, along with some of her friends. I can't cope with any of that at this time of year [or any time if I'm honest] so I said I wouldn't be going as I still wasn't well [only a bit of a cold] and she texted back to say BIL had a chest infection but he don't want to cancel the bunfight!  :#
I made the right decision there.

  • Well you could have kept it contained in Wales @wild edges, I seem to going down with something similar, we are on our last box of tissues too. I  have taken bucket loads of echinacea, vit D, zinc, and vices first defence.  None of which has helped.  😡
