Would a fuchsia go here?

  • Bit of a left-field idea perhaps, as not exactly a shrub(!), but... it could look nice planted up with a selection of Mediterranean herbs, which would love the sunny, dry, and sheltered spot, and would smell really nice when you sit on the bench next to them. I have a bed of them in the warmest part of my garden and love using them in cooking. The rosemary looks great all year round too, which is a bonus.

Lizzie27 I already have a couple of Spirea so I know they do well in my garden. An apricot colour sounds a bit different!

CanterburyBells That sounds like a good idea!

Getting a few good ideas, will have to see what the garden centres have available when I go.

    English Lavender ?
They love sun, smell fab and don’t need a lot of “tending to”.  I just dead head and trim off the old untidy sprigs on the edges of the plants.  A bonus is that bees love the flowers.

Sorry @madpenguin, it was a Potentilla I bought, not a spiraea. I still can't find the label which is unusual for me, I usually keep all mine in an indexed shoe box. It's probably in a pocket somewhere!
