Could be that - good shout @Beefley . Are any other plants damaged? Rabbits will certainly eat a lot of things, so it would depend on your other plants. I can't recall any rhodos or conifers getting eaten by them when we were rural. I don't think I had any fatsias in that garden.

"Our" rabbits absolutely annihilate hebes, and also stripped all the wallflowers, so if you have those plants and they've also been damaged, my money is still on rabbits.
