Amelanchier fungus

Sorry about sideways image!
Can anyone identify this fungus on a amelanchier tree? How should it be treated? It is only visible on one of the intertwining trunks and the wood underneath seems to be solid and not rotten in any way. The rest of the tree has buds forming on branches as normal and last year had flowers and berries.

    It's probably completely harmless- as most fungi are  :)

    Looks like it’s been cut straight across and not on a slope,  rain’s got in.
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

    It might be one of the Trametes bracket fungi. A closer photo would be a great help as would a close-up photo of the underside of one of the "leaves".
