Why should pollen be a problem? The newts chose to live in your pond. They wouldn't have done so if they were worried. I think you should trust their judgement. Try to relax and enjoy the wildlife.
  • I was concerned that the oily film on the surface may harm the wildlife in someway. And you are right, I should relax☺️ Thank you for your help ☺️

Wait until you get the manky, oily residue from the birds bathing   :D
We have pine tree everywhere here. I have one in the corner of the garden, and the pond is in the firing line of anything that would come from it, not to mention the 80 foot ones across the road. It really isn't a problem  :)

Enjoy your pond, and your newts - we don't have them round here, so I'm quite jealous  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Eeeeek! Something to look forward to😂Aww, such a shame about the Newts, they are such beautiful little things☺️ Do you get frogs though? There are grass snakes here so any poor little frog is a tasty treat for them!

Frogs, but no grass snakes either. I think my compost bin would be a bit inhospitable  ;)

Starlings and wood pigeons are the  worst for getting the pond manky. No shortage of either here. Doesn't affect the pond at all   :)

Ha ha you can certainly tell when the wood pigeons have had a bathe in your pond.

It's even worse when the b*ggers just sit there as if it's a hot tub  :D
