Draft post disappears or shows old draft text

I'm struggling to type posts as it keeps disappearing as I type or shows an older draft post for another thread. I have to tap the text box then type something to get it back.  Then j have to type quickly and delete typed letters in the wrong place due to this issue.

Can anyone help?

Trying to recreate your problem Northernjoe by typing and then pausing but what you describe isn't happening to me. Might I suggest that you log out of the forum and then back in and try again?

I have the same issue using an iPad.  It's been like that for years.  I just stop typing and backspace as I know it will pop up with the old text in a minute.

  • I would report to Admin, you can't be the only one by far, but obviously most of us don't have this problem. It would drive me nuts

I had a problem yesterday with my post disappearing but then all was well again next time.

I've noticed a change over the past week or so with the auto-save. The auto-save used to save to drafts every few seconds and a category of My Drafts would appear on the main menu for unposted drafts. Now, even typing this over a period of a couple of minutes, no draft is being auto-saved - and so no My Drafts category either. Maybe that is specific to the environment though - I'm using a browser (Firefox) on a laptop.

@steveTu I use Chrome and also no draft is being saved.

..well that rules out it being me just having inadvertently changed some setting!..

Edited to add: Can't see any changes in the profile settings that relate to drafts - so maybe they've made a change (all be it inadvertently) to the web based software.

  • Using Chrome here and drafts are still being saved.

The only change recently is that randomly a fresh line of text is started after I've done a 'nudge' to another member's name, or edited a piece of text to change the font into italics.

No problem here either with Chrome.
Sometimes the 'post' button doesn't work right away and saves a draft, so you have to check, otherwise you think you've posted and realise later that you haven't.

I keep reading it as 'daft post disappears'. Now that might be useful🤔
