Train or prune aBow-legged rose

Sorry for the bad quality, the camera decided to focus on my finger instead.

my friends rose leant against the previously fixed fence before the fence itself gave out. Now we are wondering whether to train it with a post will help or if I should just give it a hard pruning, suggestions ?

Do you know what sort of rose it is? If it's a climber it will need support. If it's a shrub it should be able to support itself. Climbers flower better when the stems are trained out sideways. Whatever it is it looks as though some stems are rubbing together, which can cause damage. Pruning advice would be easier if we knew the type of rose.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Well some of it is getting hard pruned but she’s just iffy about the strange bow shape it’s taken on
