I have grown my dark leaved hypericums for 4 years now .It is worth looking in the GC or local nursery as there are a lot of new varieties with different flower and berry colours. I grow mine in a group of three and prune each year so no need to go in heavy handed. However they can be cut to the ground as mentioned, they will be back! Sadly I don't know the name of mine as the nursery I purchased them from had no idea!I just loved them.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
