Moving dwarf apple trees

I'm moving home and would be grateful for advice on moving dwarf apple trees.

  • Depends how big, and how long they have been planted.
  • They're about 5 feet and have been planted for a year
  • Well the usual way is to dig a circular trench as far out as the branches reach to check root growth, then dig closer but leave as much of a root ball as you can. Dig under the root ball,  which will be at least 30cm, tip tree and wrap in hessian/bag of some type . This would need to be done soon and re planted straight away as we are coming up to the growing season. I doubt you would get fruit this year, as it would have to re settle into its new home. Hope this helps, but I'm sure if I've missed something someone else will help.🙂
  • Thank you for info has been great help
  • One last thing, make sure you stake it well when you replant.🙂

You must of course tell your prospective purchasers that you are taking the trees and any other plants.
