Passiflora edulis - To prune or not to prune?
Hi there!
I'm hoping that someone could help me.. I've searched Google and I can't find any info that refers to my setup so I'm not too sure what to do. Last spring I planted 2 Passiflora edulis, Edible Passion Flower, plants in a bed inside a building which is essentially a lean-to glasshouse. In the winter the temperatures don't drop too low inside so the plants are quite happy and haven't even dropped a leaf, if anything putting on growth. All info I can find refer to passion flower plants that have been planted outside in the UK and pruning back the died back plants in the spring to make way for new shoots out the ground. As my plants are completely green still and have actually started putting out new shoots again on the branches, I was wondering whether I should be pruning them back to the main structure for all the new growth that's to come this spring/summer or shall I just keep nipping off the new shoots to keep the current/last years growth? My other question is, do passion fruits flower/fruit on old growth or new growth? Because this will also help me decide whether I need to prune or not. Last year I got a single flower on one of the plants not long after it was planted, and since then, nothing. Both the plants grew like stink and have covered the wall they're planted against which is great, but no flowers which was quite a shame. I didn't know whether maybe they put all their effort into growing the foliage and maybe this year they'll flower? I will add some potash fertiliser in the spring to help them along too.
Any help would be very much appreciated,
Thanks!

I have grown passiflora but that was some years ago and l can't recall ever pruning it.
It was planted in a container and trained to cover half the roof and 1 south facing side. I didn't prune - just a bit of tidying early Spring.
Thanks so much again!
