Plants

My hellebore has many flowers but they’re not fully open and appear just an inch above the soil. Any ideas why?

They usually open and grow up at the same time, emerging from the leaves to open fully. I think it would be a good idea to wait a week or two to see how they progress. Many people cut back the leaves to give a better view of the flowers but I don't find this necessary in most cases.

It also happens more often with younger plants. I have lots of self seeded ones which are like that - they perform more 'normally' as they mature  :)

In any case - they should be fine, as @Posy says. They'll grow and look better over time.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
