Plant ID for my nan

Hello

My nan received this houseplant as a gift last year. It's just finished flowering but hopefully the now droopy flowers will still help with ID. Does anybody know what is? Thank you in advance.

    Gardenia maybe?

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • I've just had a bit of a look at both azaleas and gardenias and I don't think the leaves are quite right for either. Gardenia leaves have quite distinct 'neat' bumps in parallel lines whereas these are just more bumpy all over? Azaleas seem to be smoother in general.

    Thanks for the suggestions though.

It's Rhododendron Simsii, sometimes called Indian Azalea. It can withstand cool temperatures down to 15 degrees. In the summer time keep it somewhere with dappled shade in the garden if you want.
  • Looks like that's the one! Thank you ever so much. I'll get reading up on their care now and let her know what I find out.

    Thank you everybody 😊
